Should I try to claim PPI on old account?

Hi everyone,
Fairly new here as this was recommended to me by a friend after discussing reclaiming PPI.
Whilst having a clear out I have found some old MBNA credit card statements and it looks like I was paying PPI. The amounts vary from £30 to £80 per month. I never asked for this insurance.
However the account was closed in Dec 2005. I had the account from 1996.
My question is; Is it worth trying to claim back the PPI payments?

Yes it did get quite high at one point. Fortunately I was able to pay it off eventually.
Does that have any bearing on whether to make a claim or not?
