Biodiesel in Bristol - £1 a litre!

Hi all, just thought I'd share this as I run my pickup on Biodiesel and this is nuts!

I drove over to Avonmouth during the week to find a place called Bristol Biofuel. They're on the Chittening Industrial Estate and are open to the public 9-5.

Biodiesel, pumped for you (rare in itself!) at £1 a litre, including all taxes!

Can't beat that short of filtering it and making it yourself!

Roughly 30p a litre saving. Doesn't bio diesel give you less MPG though especially in the cold temperatures??
Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.

And where they might have made 1 or 2p profit a litre on proper diesel, it will probably be nearer 40p a litre here.

Or does it contain part diesel too?

Duty on biodiesel is the same as dino.
    Changed in April 2010.
There used to be a discount of 20p, that only applies from bio made from waste oil now, most commercial bio isn't now.

So, about 60p duty, 16p vat, 24p to buy the oil, process, and pump it?
    Doesn't leave a big margin.
  • I might be in the minority but I found the MPG to be just as good on my 1.9 pickup.

It's all recycled too so conscience free gas guzzling :)
  • I use a mix sometimes in the summer months and I find mine runs a little better with some oil in the fuel.
