but it's poor form to post completely irrelevant replies over and over to the OPOr do you enjoy that? Some people do.Also, I was happy with your answer, just didn't see any need for the sarcasm is all.

Please be quiet and go and bother someone else. I really didn't come on here to offend. There's no need to be rude. Don't you have anything better to do?

I think the house will fall down by Tuesday, or at latest Wednesday.

As said, impossible to say if current arrangement meets Building regs etc.... on-site professional assessment required.;)

The fact that the OP has employed a Structural Engineer is a sensible thing to do. They will have full professional Indemnity Insurance (or should and evidence of this should be sought if you are unsure if they have) and will take care as they will have to pay to correct anything damage which is as a result of poor advice (unlike MSE poster I am afraid and in fact Building Control or "geezer who has experience in bulding") Look for MISTructE, FIStructE, MICE or FICE after their name.0

It is completely pointless the op coming on here and asking such a question. Especially as the wrong answer could result in a catastrophic collapse and possibly serious injury. A structural engineer would do the calculation in a very short time and he/she is the person to ask.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
right assuming its 4" wide and 8" deep this would fit with being built into a 4" internal wall. Would be no need to go any deeper, 8" is ample. There are other things to check though such as how its been seated, how far it overlaps the brick supports either end and span. Ultimately, spend the money and get it checked out by a professional before making a final decision as it is a small price to pay. Dont forget, the steel could be fine but it could have been fitted by incompetants so it could still be dangerous. Get them to investigate the installation not just the specification.0
