You need to contact the retailer (the store you purchased it from) your really going the long way around this contacting companies that aren't even involved in the purchase or manufacture.

  • Just an update. Received a letter from desktop trading ltd director. In which he says they bought stock from swan balloons to stop the manufacturer going bust. They supplied stock to the shop (17months ago) which i bought it from but say they cannot guarantee it was them who supplied the item i bought. They say they will not and cannot accept liability but will offer something as a goodwill gesture. can i ask, by saying they sold this item to the store does that not make them liable??

No, your contract is still with the retailer you purchased it from. Is there a reason you are not chasing them?
  • They have NO liability, as you have been told several times.

Aside from the contract issue, the OP could pursue the manufacturer. However, I'm not convinced there is any recourse against a company that took over from another one that may have supplied the product.
