Anyone got any recommendations on tyres for a 1999 Toyota Corolla 1.6 SR (Petrol) ???
Need 175/65 R14 82 H specification
Preferably looking for mid range brands (eg Good Year, Avon, Yokohama, Firestone, Hankook) roughly around £50 per tyre all charges included.
Currently have Good Year Eagles fitted, but these are now in the £70-75 range for this spec.
Looking for tyres that will last, generally good in wet and dry (not interested in Winter Tyres).
Many thanks in advance...

Hankook are a Korean company with a decent reputation. This tyre gets a decent review on this site:

Best to find a Toyota Corolla forum and see what other owners use

delivery £3 per tyre and find a local tyre place to fit for roughly a tenner a tyre0 -
Blackcircles all around £50 fitted
Toyo Proxes CF1
Avon ZV3
neither I've used but both get good reports.
I would have said the Kumho, which I have used and are good, but they've had production problems, and no one how many are suspect.0 -
Must admit I'm not familiar with alot of the tyre models available in your size but I would personally avoid the zv3 and conti eco contacts
I reckon your best bang for buck will be eithe toyo proxes or conti premium contact 2 both of which are 50ish fitted. Infact I would take the continentals, not as good outright dry grip as the toyo but better wet traction and will wear slower, had some on a mr2 when I bought it and they were pretty decent.
Think yourself lucky you have 14s, a 17 inch sport contact 3 cost me 120 quid a couple of weeks ago due to a split in the sidewall of a tyre with 6mm left, heartbreaking!0 -

They were coning up on black circles, just had to scroll through to find them think they were showing as 55 fitted0

I know this is a huge generalisation but I thought Toyos were really soft, great grip but bad wear rate?0

You're not wrong - oddly I can't seem to find premium contacts anywhere in anything but a T rating in that size - there are other continentals in the same price range but I drove a car on eco contacts and it was horrible. Still, I can't see the T's not being sufficient for most cars running 14's - unless it's particularly quick or heavy for a car running those size of wheels it should be fine.0
