Unemployed last tax year, working tax credit claim

Hi
I was out of work all last year (last tax year) and didn't claim any benefits or job seekers or anything. I've recently got a (low paid) job and am trying to claim working tax credit but on the form i've been sent out it only asks me for my income from last year which is obviously nothing. I can't see anywhere on the form asking for information for my earnings this year to prove that I am on low income.

Do I just fill in all the boxes as zero income for last year and leave it at that?

Thanks

Yes, they always ask for last year's income. So if it was zero, write 0.

You're best giving them a ring once you get the award and telling them your estimated income this tax year. If it's under £16420 it won't make any difference to your claim this year, but it'll make sure next year's claim starts right (ie from April).
