yea i understand what you are saying. im not trying to be silly, i do take your advice seriously and i wouldnt rush into anything i will be seeing a mortgage advisor and if he thinks its not right then obviously i wouldnt rush into anything, we did look into moving last year and mortgage advisor though it wouldnt be right because the house was more expensive than what we could afford so obviously i put that out of my mind and havent thought about it until i got pregnant. its not the end of the world if we don't move i just wanted to enquire about it incase we do decide and we can get the money we need. also if it came to it my partner could sell his car to make quite a bit of money because he has recently purchased a van to start his business so could use that to drive about. may i just add that it wasnt an expensive van and he sold something else to purchase the van lol.0

Have you figured out what you'll do when/if the mortgage interest rate goes up?
i took out a long term fixed rate just to make sure. its probally costing us a bit more each month but i can be sure that the rates won't rise. i would also only take out the new mortgage if i could have the long fixed rate.0 -
Not trying to make lite of your situation, but compared to many people only a few years back, you live in comparative luxury. My grandmother was one of 8 children and they lived in a 2 up 2 down in South London.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

Answer this: if your husband does go self-employed could you pay the new mortgage on your salary alone?

!!!!!!.
I'm just trying to suggest that the vast mnajority of the worlds population could never dream of having a 2 bedroom house for just 4 people. Sometimes we need to put things into perspective.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0 -
I think people have been trying to put things in perspective since the first page but telling people that others have had it tough doesn't necessarily mean it's persuasive. Other people's suffering and knowing about it doesn't always lessen our own. Still, next thing, you'll be saying that those 8 kids were as happy as clams or pigs in !!!!!!. But you know and I know that they were most probably totally bloody miserable and hated the sight of each other.0

My DH was the same - one of six, in fact he was a twin - one of the youngest two in family - with a total of eight in family comprising parents plus three girls and three boys. His parents had the smallest room whilst the girls had the largest and the boys the middle-sized bedroom.......they managed like that till his eldest brother and sister left home and DH swears to this day they were all happy with the arrangement, although as an only child myself I can't imagine what it would be like to share with so many siblings

It seems to me that you are dealing in what ifs regarding what you will get for your house. Have you had any estate agents round to get an idea of what sort of asking price you should be looking at ? Then work out what you might actually achieve because without these figures, you don't really know what is possible. I know you are saying £110k maybe but if it is considerably less what can you do then ? I would see a mortgage advisor as you plan to, get some agents round and then sit down and think it through. If you think you can do it, then go for it but if not, maybe you would have to wait until your husband has 3 years records. I hope it works out for you. We had cardboard shoes.......but it never did us any harm.0

I shared a room with my sister until I was in my teens even though there was a spare room. We just liked sharing. I think a lot of young 'uns would rather share. Someone to protect you from all the monsters under the bed
