Rent and council tax at 65

My mother is retiring at 65 later this year. She lives in a part ownership housing association property. She owns 25% of the property and pays rent of about £300 a month on the remaining 75%. She will be receiving a full state pension and about £200 a month civil service pension. Will she be entitled to help with her rent and council tax?
Any advice much appreciated. Thanks.

She would need to speak to the Housing Association about Housing Benefit and to the local authority for Council Tax Benefit.

Housing benefit is also claimed through the local authority, not the housing association.0

It may not seem fair to you, but with full state pension and £200 private she is way over the limit for rent and council tax benefit."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

I can't find the updated figures but my mum gets full state pension and a private pension, has just below the threshold for savings and she gets council tax benefit.0 -
The Benefits Office of your local District Council will adminster claims for both Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit.
At the same time, it would be worth examining the likelihood of Pension Credit, I would think she may well qualify.0 -
IIRC pension credit kicks in if income is around 115 quid a week or less, so she may not qualify. But the rules are rather complex so it's best to check.Trying to keep it simple...0
