cats with sensitive stomaches advice needed

we've recently rehomed a cat that we've since found out suffers with the runs due to a senitive stomach and have been told to change him onto a sensitive cat food how long should it take to see a diffference? he uses the litter tray 100% so no problems there but have been told we may need to try several different brands till we find the one that works best.
any recommendations?

any tips on how to stop him eating other stuff? I swear he thinks hes a dog coz if its food of any sort he'll eat it given half a chance a few things i've caught him eating so far fruit/bread/cake/cheesy wotsits

also can i give him bits of leftover chicken or is it best not to give him anything extra?

thanks

  • Errrrr re stopping him eating anything else .... don't leave anything lying around? How does he get hold of things like fruit/break/cake/cheesy wotsits? They certainly won't be doing his tum any good at all! (and it may be that if you can get all this carp cut out, his tummy will settle down by itself).

What (cat) food does he eat now?

My wee cat used to have terrible upset tums and I did have to try her on several things before I found something that suited her - thankfully (and fingers crossed) she's now happily eating & pooping normally (!) on Royal Canin.

I do know others who've had success with the Purina Sensitive but not tried this myself.

he was on tesco own brand and we've just started him on purina one sensitive mainly coz its the only sensitive cat food my local shop stocked. if it doenst make a difference then happy to try something else will just mean making a special trip to the nearest stockest.

as for the eating everything else hes rather good at clearing up after the kids working on getting them to make sure theres nothing left where he can get it but its a work in progress & think i'm gonna have to get lids for their bedroom bins not that they're actually mean to eat upstairs

Cheesy wotsits could affect his tummy, in fact anything with milk could be. One of mine gets a terrible tummy if he has even a smidgen of milk or cheese.

our beebs had a sensitive stomach when we first brought him home, you could go with hills biscuits for sensitive from pets at home or you could, as we were advised boil chicken and rice and mix it together for your cats, works a treat
