Hi Guys, i'm expecting something from America which has a value of $126 (92ish pounds).
I would like to know what customs will charge me on this?
I've paid $29 shipping (which i know is taken into consideration with their calculations).
Thanks in advance.

Depends entirely on what it is.. Duty on clothing for adults is about 12%. Some electronics are free of duty. Metals tend to be in the range 0-6%. Plus VAT AT 20%. plus agents fee £6-15 depending on who it is.
You can do your own clearance, but have to organise this before the item is sent, so a bit late for that now0 -
You can ignore the import duty as this won't be charged (providing the seller has declared the correct value).
Duty only becomes due once the value of the goods exceeds £135.
The item may be charged VAT (if it gets chosen as not all packages are), and most goods are charged at 20%, but there is also a 5% and 0% rate for some items.0 -
I'm rubbish at Maths,:o......so how much roughly will i be charged (with the duty at 6%)?0

I too would be interested in the answer.
I'm thinking of buying 3 items from the USA and they amount to $150.
Would it be better to make them be mailed out seperately (i.e each valued at $50)?0 -

As I said earlier, ignore the duty and just stick to the VAT.
If the goods you've ordered are chargable at the standard rate of 20%, you should be billed for about £21 for the tax and anywhere between about £6 and £15 for the couriers handling fee. (they charge for declaring the package to HMCE, doing the required paperwork and for prepaying the amount due and then claiming it back from you).
The goods and postage for your item comes to $155 (about £103 depending on the exchange rate used by HMCE) and you should be charged 20% of this for VAT.
The VAT due would be about £20 plus the agents handling fee on top.I too would be interested in the answer.

The only problem with 3 packages is that each one is still over the limit for which VAT may be charged, and if all 3 get stopped and processed, you will also have 3 lots of handling fees to pay.0 -

Technically, there is no such thing as Import Duty.
What there could be are Customs Duty, Excise Duty, and/or Import VAT.
Details at HMRCIf you're ordering goods online for your own personal use, you may have to pay Customs Duty, Excise Duty or Import VAT on top of the advertised purchase price. What's due, if anything, depends on the type of goods and where they come from.
