Can I/should I Reclaim PPI?

This is my first post as I’m new to the forum.
I started a debt management plan back in 2007 with CCCS, since then I have been making regular payments and have seen my debt shrink...phew!
The reason for my dilemma is yes I was missold as I was told that to get the interest rate I had to have PPI but at the end of November I was sent a letter from NatWest to say that on my loan and current account my default notice had been satisfied....which was great but odd as I still had about £800 owing on the loan, and I know that balance was correct as I'd had a statement a few months before...even more confusing they said they owed me some money back.
After many calls none of them getting to why the money was owed to me I went to a branch and my encashment of £320. I was still trying to get to the bottom of what had happened I got through to someone who had better access to the system as was told the system had made a mistake and generated a credit, but not to worry they had done it to loads of others and this credit had paid off the outstanding balance of the loan and the balance owed on my overdraft.....being as I thought the overdraft had been paid off in 2009 as that was when I had last made a payment I was a tad surprised to find I owed around £1500!! So I lodged a complaint as I was even more surprised that I had a debt with a bank and had not received one statement/letter or even been chased for this money....and it had been accumulating for over 2 years!!
Eventually I spoke to a lady in their dedicated complaints team, who said the system had generated a refund incorrectly into my account for around £2500, this then cleared the loan and then the balance of the credit and the payments I had made had been transferred to the current account and this paid off the overdraft and left the balance that I had been paid as a refund..... I said I was amazed and confused as to how I could have owed on the overdraft and not once been sent anything about lack of payment for OVER 2 YEARS, she said they don’t have to send letters or statements!! I then said if this was a mistake and I shouldn’t have had this refund/credit and I hadn't cleared my overdraft like I thought I still owe you all that money which would be around £4000, she went on to say that as they had sent the satisfied notice and due to the problems I had trying to sort it out and the upset it had caused she was letting the default notice stand and they would not pursue me for any of this money.... a relief I can tell you!
But this leaves me with the dilemma can I/ should I claim??
Sorry this has been so waffly but I thought it best to give all the facts....so I'm asking for your advice/help/opinions on whether I should try to claim back the PPI?
Many thanks
