Bosch SGI56A26GB/45 - no power

My Bosch dishwasher is almost 8 years old so don't want to pay for an expensive repair. Can anyone offer any idea as to what might be wrong please?

Dishwasher started normally on Thursday but when I went back to empty it I noticed there were no display lights on - machine usually shows 00 when programme finsihed.

It appears to have taken water in and opened door to release powder but I think that's as far as it's got as water inside was still cold and dishes looked to be more rinsed than cleaned.

I've checked the fsue in the socket - it's a fused spur - and it's OK. Can't check further though as i don't have the electrical knowledge to check a fused spur.

Any ideas as to what might be wrong?

Presumably other appliances/sockets around the dishwasher are still working?

If the dishwasher is on its own circuit, have you checked the circuit breakers in your fuse box?

Is the dishwasher in a separate room/garage?

Yes all other appliances/sockets are working fine.

It's not on its own circuit. It's on the same circuit as all the sockets in the kitchen, apart from the cooker. Circuit breaker did not trip.

No it's in the kitchen next to the sink. Washing machine is on the other side of the sink.

It seems like you have checked everything you can. I suppose you've tried the on/off switch on the dishwasher and fused-spur a few times?

Does the fused spur have a neon light on it?

Before you call an appliance repair company, it may be worth asking someone to test that there is power to the fused spur for you.

Yes I have with the vain hope that it would suddenly spring into life.

    No.

I'm getting the electrician out who will test the socket and change it over to a normal plug socket as I can imagine problems when getting a new one and someone saying they can't touch a fused spur!

I did ask one repair shop yesterday who said it sounded like the power module as it was a common Bosch fault and would cost around £250 to repair. He said it wasn't worth doing but just wondering if that is likely to be the cause or if there is anything simple.

I would obtain a few quotes first.

Many dishwasher problems can easily and cheaply be repaired with the correct parts. However, you have to be fairly competent at DIY, mechanics/electronics and not to mention being able to move the machine out too!

Just a thought - the fused spur may be powering a plug socket behind the dishwasher? The dishwasher plug fuse may have blown?

I will do although many want a callout charge which can get pretty expensive in itself.

My late husband was able to do all of these things but unfortunately I cannot. It's also a semi-integrated model which some will not touch either.
