Insure, the car insurance company and 2 good reasons not to use them...

I am utterly fuming with my car insurance company called 'insure'
it is the trading name of boncaster ltd , of brentwood essex.

1) I have updated my car today for EXACTLY the same model car i had on cover previously, the only difference is I now have a 1.8 engine not a 2.0 engine, they tell me there is a £9 credit for the balance of the year but they also demanded a £21.00 admin fee to update my policy...

JESUS CHRIST WHAT A RIP OFF !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

£21 to update a policy you have already payed them to administer ... I am bloody fuming ...

So what the hell do they expect , that I will buy a car and NEVER update it or change it, like ever! - WHAT A F***ING DISGRACE

Also they only publish a 0870 number to contact them on so they leave you on the phone whillst it costs you 9p a min and they get 50% of that cost as a commission - THE (double) ROBBING B**TARDS

Also they tell you that thats normal with any insurace company these days
is this true or it is as I suspect utter B*ll*cks

Anyway my message is simple TAKE YOU BUSINESS SOMEWHERE ELSE, I owuld leave tomorow but I have a cashback option I am waiting to cash in, bet they try and rob this away as well.

Now that most of the toys you threw out of the pram have landed can I dare to put my head above the parapet ? I have no axe to grind either for or against "insure" better known as equity red star or cox insurance.I will limit myself to saying that £20 is frequently charged by direct insurers or on line brokersfor any alterations however trivial.I am not seeking to justify that as reasonable. It is their way of keeping the renewal prices down.

As regards their phone number here is their real landline number

Yes but where? In my experience they're all the same. They all "rob", its just the amounts that differ.

Take me, insured with Hastings Direct (then), I bought a new Ford Mondeo 1.8LX 18 months ago. The dealer fitted me some free issue alloys from the Zetec variant (next model up in the range). I informed Hastings of this and paid an extra £30 for 4 months remaining cover to renewal date - never queried it because it sounded reasonable (1.8LX N reg to brand new car).

Came to the renewal and tried to argue that because the wheels were fitted by Ford/supplying Ford dealer before I took delivery of the vehicle, they should not be classed as a "modification". This fell on deaf ears.

Just out of interest, I got them to quote as if it were a Zetec (after all it sort of looked like one now - from a distance at least). This quote actually came in £30 cheaper for the year than my "modified" cheaper LX.

    Work that one out!!!

Should say that I've moved to Churchill now. So far everything is fine. Paperwork is perfectly clear - no "really" small print, and a £58 saving to boot!
