  • DPF is a non issue. Just run it around over 2000 RPM for 15 minutes once a week so do 70 in 5th instead of 6th or 60 in 4th instead of 5th for 10 or 20 miles.
  • Id say go for a touran or verso if your after compact mpvs.
  • i'd say a SAAB estate, sporty. deals to be had now going bust, with the money saved opt to purchase a good warranty with a good company that covers most failures. avoid 1.9 deisel VX engine turbo failures are common.

    for e.g a 2.3 T petrol vector 9-3 are going out now on a 09 2010 model at £9150 1 owner car with about 40k miles.

    either that a good volvo v70. http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3022541.htm 08 plate 58k.

mpv i would go JAP for reliability. SEAT or VW.

If you want a big, big boot, go for the Mondeo.

I have a Mk4 diesel 2.0 estate automatic and the rear is absolutely enormous. The car is actually bigger than the last Granada. And I get about 42mpg around town and 46mpg at 70mph on the motorway.

And all the muttering about the DPF is nonsense. The only time you will have a problem is if you only ever make journeys of no more than two miles each way once a day and never achieve a speed of more than 40mph.
