Best Village/Town between Dereham and Norwich?

In your opinion?

Looking for good local aminities, good links into Norwich (maybe via A47) and decent schooling!

Thanks to all those that contributed to my Norwich thread previously, this is Plan B and just want to get some more advice and information and the last thread was extremely informative!!

Thanks - will keep 'bumping' over next 7 days or so!!

  • I can't come up with anywhere on that side of Norwich I'd want to live. Um, perhaps Old Costessey at a pinch.

    Sorry.
  • Help!! Anyone?!

Are you still looking for a 4 bed detached for <£200k? If so that will narrow down your search significantly to say Dereham and villages close to Dereham - as its cheaper to live that side. Also the closer to the A47, the less the cost of the house - probably as its a horrid road to get across if you are going the opposite direction!

Closer to Norwich there are some lovely villages eg. Barnham Broom/Bawburgh but I don't think you will get a 4 bed detached for the budget.

IHate, what villages are nice in and around Dereham?

Way back in the past I went to UEA. Spent a year in a village called Hingham (south of Dereham) sharing a beautiful ancient 4 (or was it more?) bed house on the green and loved it. No idea what it's like now though, and as I was a student I wasn't clued up on schools, community facilities etc.

Had a decent local shop, PO etc, several nice pubs and a nice feel. I wasn't a party student and liked the quiet, friendly environment - that's why I moved off campus to a village rather than into the City.
