I was just wondering if anyone has opinions on the Vauxhall Corsa 1.0 ltr Gsl model. It is reg 2000 5 door and manual. Has anyone driven one or own one.
What are they like for reliability, insurance and tax. What would be the average price for this model as I have tried looking but they seem slightly different models to this one, on the internet. Also what would be considered high mileage for this model. Thanks in advance.Sorry for the questions.

Corsa B or C, with the 3 or 4 cylinder engine?
Having said that. if it's lasted 11 years, it's either a wreck, or it'll keep keep going the same again.
Mileage should be around 75 to 125K, and price can be anything from £500 upwards for a runner.0 -
this will be a corsa b
you dont want high mileage as its a 3 cylinder engine
make sure it sounds quiet when hot after a run and to make sure the maf works
make sure it goes into gear good
make sure power steering doesnt pull top the right/left on start up hands off steering wheel
if its a good example they are nice little cars, economical ,cheapest insurance were group 1 and road tax of £115
just make sure its a good one because the other 99% were rubbish0 -
What makes you go with the B?
2000 was the changeover year.0 -
As the car is 11 years old, average mileage would be considered between 110-125k. On a car this age I would consider anything above 140k as a "bit on the high side", but not a deal breaker.
Go and test drive the vehicle to make sure you like it. As it is the GLS, around £500 privately with average mileage. What you have to remember is that cars are priced differently depending on mileage, condition, service history and whether it's a private sale or dealer etc.
They are an economical car with a low insurance group/running costs. As it is pre 2001, the tax is done on engine size and the car you have mentioned falls in to the lower bracket (can't remember the price).0 -
Thanks for your help.I asked about mileage and it is 89,000 and says it has a full service history, im not sure if it is 3 cylinder or a 5 cylinder. I haven't had chance to look at it yet. I have looked on different websites and there seems to be a new shape that was brought in in 2000, not sure which one it is. Is the gls model a lower spec model than the other Corsas? For example there are expression, breeze and life models.wins so far: 6 mars balls. 5 mars dvds. make up. hair stuff. moisturiser. i had a 1.0l as a courtesy car some years ago and it was pants , you had to put your foot to the floor to get anywhere and it wasnt economical. the 1.2 16v is a lot better.0

Its a 3 cylinder. A 5 cylinder it most certainly is not!stressedofthecentury wrote: »Thanks for your help.I asked about mileage and it is 89,000 and says it has a full service history, im not sure if it is 3 cylinder or a 5 cylinder. Yes, that is what mikey is talking about with B and C.
GLS is a fairly high spec (CDX was top iirc), those other ones you mention are below I think, but the model did change at that year so the model names changed too, so you may not be able to compare like with like exactly.0 -
Thanks for everyones help and advice regarding this car. Sounds like I need to be looking for something with a bigger engine. I just happened to see it advertised in the local paper from a private seller.
I got lucky when I saw a car advertised this way before. I bought a car thinking it would maybe last me a year and it kept going for 5 years and it only cost me £400 to buy and I virtually spent nothing on it apart from tyres and the odd small thing here and there.(mirror etc) I was so sad when it got scrapped as it used to start every day without fail even when we had last years heavy snow. It used to pass all the mots apart from the last one when it had loads wrong with it. It was a diesel and built like a tank.wins so far: 6 mars balls. 5 mars dvds. make up. hair stuff. moisturiser.
