boiler problem

combi boiler(heatline make)working ok for hot water but for heating it cuts out after 40-50 seconds even with stat on wall on max,engineer coming monday(as i`m not paying weekend prices)i have a feeling that an internal stat isnt working?
am i right or totally wrong?if im right how much to repair approx??

My daughter had a simular problem but it was the hot water cutting off but the heating side was working ok. It was the diverter valve faulty. It cost her £150 for the complete job including parts and vat. This was by a ruputable gas and plumbing company.0
