Scrapping a car

Hi all,

I have a car I need to scrap, it works ok but is very old and is rusting away, so not worth much.

But the amount of scrapping places is overwhelming and I can;t tell which are legit.

http://www.rewardingrecycling.co.uk/ I thought this place looked good, but any advice would be good.

I'm based in Kent

    I've just used

    http://www.cartakeback.com/

    and can recommend them.

Got a very good price, and the paperwork emailed the same day.

    Just checked

    http://www.cartakeback.com/

    offer £50 more than

    http://www.rewardingrecycling.co.uk/

for my car, so give them a try for a quote.
  • Ring around town for any local metal recyling centres, most will pay alot more than scraping ones

Thanks! The cartakeback one looks good, they are more then the other quotes Ihave been getting too! Think I will give em a try since my neighbours are getting annoyed that we now have 3 cars taking up space!

If the car is still working, you could always put it on freecycle as a freebie. I'm sure someone else out there would be grateful for a car.

2 years ago I would have agreed. A minority have now ruined the whole purpose of freecycle, if you put on there then theres a good chance who ever collected it would drive it straight to the scrap yard and pocket the cash.
Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.
  • Hi having just this week scrapped in my car, i know how daunting it is to find the best deal.

I got a quote from both cartakeback and rewardingrecycling, both seems like fair quotes, but paid by cheque, wanting cash to put towards a new car, i phoned around more locally and got a cash offer, it was £10 less than these sites offered but to me it was worth that to have the cash in my hand upon pickup.

Initally the local dealer offered £160, i told them i'd been offered £230 and from where, and they came back with the offer of £220 HTH
