Hello,
I have a disk that I'm sure had a jpeg pic on, I've obviously deleted it at some time. Is it possible to get it back? Thanks

A CD-R is a one time write disc, you can't delete files from it. If you're sure it was on the CD-R then either the CD itself is faulty or damaged.
Perhaps the CD drive is faulty or failing, have you tried to read the CD-R in another drive? One by one the penguins are slowly stealing my sanity.0 -

Strictly, you can.
From a wiki (yeah, I know, don't believe everything you read in a wiki) on UDF: "This is also possible on write-once media, such as CD-R, but in that case the space occupied by the deleted files cannot be reclaimed (and instead becomes inaccessible)."
[Edit: Diskinternals claims to be able to recover deleted files on pretty much any optical media - though I should add that I have never tried it, and don't know what limitations the free version has versus the paid for one.]0 -

Recovering deleted items from a CD-R is fairly simple, providing the disc itself isn't damaged.
Many years ago someone sent me an apparently blank CD-R which should have contained important files related to their business. I used IsoBuster to recover the missing files.0 -
Long (ish) shot, http://www.isobuster.com/isobusterdownload.php
I've not used it recently, beware of any extra toolbars it wants to install.
It's free for the basic version, but depending on what files you want to recover, it may want money. Personally, I'd not pay.
edit, must type faster.Move along, nothing to see.0 -

Stretching the point I suppose. It's more a burn to destruction method.:)
I think in the context of a normal user highlighting a file on a CD-R in Explorer and pressing delete isn't going to do it.
I agree about Diskinternals, I have used it and it's pretty good but I think before I went down that route I'd be tempted to try the old clean and polish trick just in case the CD is scratched or just dirty. One by one the penguins are slowly stealing my sanity.0 -
Thank you so much for the IsoBuster link, it worked!0
