How effective is caustic soda as a weedkiller?
Bought some caustic soda to try to clean out drains but noticed on the bottle it said it could also be used on weeds.
How effective might it be? I've recently bought some expensive weedkiller but I'm wondering if the soda would have just the same effect.
I'd prefer to go with the quickest or most efficient regardless of whichever is cheaper.

Caustic Soda is far too dangerous and expensive. Much better to use ordinary table salt for long term weed control or cheap vinegar mixed with a drop of washing up liquid to kill annual weeds. My Mind wanders, if found please return.0

Caustic soda is dangerous and can harm the soil by making it too alkaline. Also Sodium which is in Caustic soda (and salt) has a harmful effect on clay soils. I personally do not recommend anything but approved weedkillers for weed control.Still waiting for Parking Eye to send the court summons! Make my day!0
