If the job is instead of the full time education, then yes you need to inform tax credits and child benefit. If he gets a part time job and stays in full time education that won't make any difference to your benefits.
If he has a job, then he can pay you a share of the household costs.0 -
Yes, you will lose the child benefit and all tax credits for him, plus if you get housing benefit, there will be a non-dependent deduction from it.
Has he any idea of the insurance premiums for teenagers and cost of running a car?! Don't forget to tell him about how much board you expect him to pay. Download the MSE budget planner and walk him through your bills so he gets an idea of the expense associated with running the house. It will also help him plan his outgoings, too - car, board, haircuts, etc.0 -
If the child works more than 24 hours per week then yes this will affect your benefits.

As said if he's stopping in education then this is the relevant bit to you from the link provided.
But if your child also stays in education or training that counts for Child Benefit, your payments may continue. It doesn't matter how many hours they work. Your child will need to have started, enrolled or been accepted for a course that counts for Child Benefit before the age of 19.0
