Weymouth Bay or Littlesea?

Hi, we are looking to take 5 of our children to Haven in dorset in the summer (for a change from centerparcs), i'm leaning towards Littlesea at the moment because it seems to have more activity sessions? The children are between 7 and 12 and enjoy things like archery etc when we go to Centerparcs. Does anyone have experience of both parks to let me know pros and cons please? We've been to the Weymouth area before and love it :)

we went to littlesea last easter. It is a very nice park, but no beach. there is however a bus that takes you to Weymouth beach (every hour IIRC - maybe more during summer).
Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today!
Cos if you do it today and like it...You can do it again tomorrow.. :p

  • I havn't personaly stayed at either of those parks but I live local to them & have family that come to stay at both parks & they have loved both parks.

If you have kids you might want to look at Parkdean holidays -
warmwell holiday village just outside Weymouth they have loads to offer in the way of activities inc ski-ing/snowboarding but it is in a semi-rural setting
so you will either need to drive or be prepared to use bus service to get you into Weymouth or preston to access beach

Remember that it's the Olympics this summer! Sailing is taking place in that part of Dorset. Check that you aren't paying an Olympic premium if you can go elsewhere.
  • Littlesea gets my vote, might be biased as have a caravans there for the last 11 years but we have visited weymouth bay at times at thought Littlesea was better. Although I think they now have a lazy river which Littlesea doesn't. No direct beach but you do have The Fleet lagoon at the bottom of the park and there are some great views if you like walking.
Everything is all fenced in so once children are in the complex children are fairly safe as only one way out past security ( security guys are really nice)
They have the normal clubs and activities for the children and has crazy golf, tennis, swimming pools etc

Hi, don't worry we will be a good few weeks earlier so the prices were still sane, very good point though :T

We've booked Littlesea and are really looking forward to it now, thankyou all for input.

We've been with Parkdean before (twice to Ruda in north devon) and liked them very much but the kids really wanted to try Haven this year and it worked out quite well with the activity passes with there being so many of them x

    Littlesea is good.

Superb chippy 5 minutes away called ‘Alf’s Fish & Chips’

Tell them you are from the camp and you will get a discount!
  • Littlesea gets my vote, lovely park and the bus to the beach is great, drops you off right at the sea front, car parking can be quite a walk away from the beach and if you have bags of beach stuff like we do then the bus was answer!! Weymouth is quite a nice town centre and you must visit Monkey World while you are down that way! All the staff at Littlesea were really friendly and happy to help. Hope you enjoy it.

If you are looking to go out & about exploring I would recommend buying a weekly bus pass OR if your looking to venture further out of Weymouth-Portland I 110% recommend you buy either a "Dorset" weekly bus pass or a 'Dorset' family pass. The Dorset pass gives you wider freedom you can cover all of Dorset with it & even venture on x53 coastal bus down into Devon or up into Yeovil Somerset. Also allows you to hop on & off whenever you like.
The X53 from top deck offers some amazing views along our Jurassic Coast.Either way you will definatly have a good holiday & I recommend Fleet lagoon at Sunset, its a stunner:)
