EA scumbags

Is it me or are all EA's scumbags of the highest order?

nearly 9 months ago I accepted an offer on my flat. since then the whole process has moved at a snail's pace. the entire time, i was saying the EA "i want the flat to remain on the market as this buyer doesn't look interested". the EA assured me it was on the market, but every 4 weeks or so, sent some email saying the buyer had now got round to the next stage.

Anyway, after 9 months, i became fed up with the buyer and had a friend call the EA to ask if any flats were for sale in my block. to my surprise (not) only two were for sale and mine was not one of them!!!!

so all this time, that i thought it was on the market the EA had been lying to me.

scumbags.

Agreed. They should be outlawed. There must be some alternative to these leeches.
  • what can I say...scumbags:D
  • Set a timelimit for exchange of contracts, tell the EA that if the buyer doesnt exchange by that date, you will take your business to another EA.
It sounds like the EA has some vested interest in this buyer buying your flat, which is why the EA isn't actively marketing your property after 9 months of procrastination by the buyer.

why would EA do that ? surely working against his/her intrest ?incompetent probably more than malicious
  • because they were hoping that this one would go through eventually - even if it took a year - and they would get more commission, by selling other flats and keeping this one as "sold".

anyway, if i instruct MY agent to do something, then they should! end of story.

moral is, never trust an EA. and if you speak to a young one that is no use, don't complain to the boss, because they are just better lying scumbags with more years of being a no good parasite.

If it's been nearly 9 months, then give notice to this lot. Appoint another set of agents. That should focus the mind of the current lot, as if you find a new buyer through the new lot, then the old lot will not make anything. Might be amazed at how proactive they suddenly become.

What a shower of....well..scumbags....! This is the result of an unregulated industry which has leeched off society for long enough. Refuse to pay them, if they should be arrogant enough to stick their hand out, and tell them you will see them in court. Disgraceful behaviour.

Only if you have given notice, and then sold to a different buyer who you can prove that they didn't introduce!

Surely if you thought your flat was on the market you would have expected to have some viewers during this 9 month period. Didn't you ever wonder why nobody was coming to look at your flat & get on to the ea about it?

I don't know what area you are in but here in London prices have lept up over the past 9 months, so the difference in price then to now could have increased by quite a few thousand & an increased price benefits the ea when he is paid his commision. With this in mind it sounds doubtful that the ea would have tolerated a sale dragging on for so long for anything other than sheer incompetence or indifference.

Find yourself a proper ea as soon as possible & remember that a trouble free sale should go through within 12-14 weeks. Also remember that your solicitor is the one to be getting onto for information on how the sale is progressing. He is the one who needs to be chasing the other party along, it's what you pay them for.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

You do need to take some responsibiilty for the last 9 months!

If they're incompetent, move on. Make some demands of the buyer about 7 months ago and know whether they're time wasters.

A decent EA would hardly leave it languishing that long; they do want paying some time! They're just rubbish, not scumbags. I've met scumbag EAs; believe.
