Took me over ten months to find a job after I was made redundant in June 2010, that was only a temporary warehouse job where i'm still working while I continue looking for a permanent job. It's still hard out there and seems to be getting harder all the time.

Good luck to all those still searching.

I was out of work for about three months - about a year ago now! I work in quite a specialist area and the market was completely dead - but it seems to have picked up recently, with more vacancies being advertised, so not all doom and gloom. Best of luck in finding something soon, OP - it can be tough out there.

    1 day

Well between being told my contract wasn't being renewed at my old place, I saw my current job in the local paper the same day.

i was unemployed for 2 1/2 weeks last year.
Birthdays are good for you. Statistics show that the people who have the most live the longest.

  • It took me about a year and in the end I had to do voluntary work to get my foot in the door and prove to employers I could do the job.

My husband though has been looking for permanent work since June 2008. He's had 3 temporary jobs in that time and has got one to go to in March but a permanent one would be better.
