I would like to be able to afford free range eggs but I simply cannot at this time. Hopefully when more debts are paid down/off I will have more leeway with this. I generally buy my eggs at Iceland 15 for £1.50.

Same here. I just cannot afford free range . I just try not to think of the poor chickens. I find Iceland much better value than Asda smartprice and Poundland as they are bigger.

  • I paid £2.58 for 12 medium free-range eggs today in Tesco but then went to Lidl and saw their Welsh free-range were £1.25 (from memory). Now that OH has been made redundant, he has the time to go to the butchers so I'll get him to check out the prices!

I get my eggs at the Farmers Market. I always go to the same chap, who sells lovely free range eggs; one time I had a whole half-dozen box of double-yolkers!

I'd love to keep chickens but it simply isn't practical.

I also buy my bread flour from the same chap.

    Free range.
    6 for a quid odd.
I'm not veggie, but cannot seem to buy the others as it seems to do my head in.
I think they still work out cheap.
I've just had a filling meal with egg fried rice and onion, just using one egg.

I buy barn eggs/free range eggs for the most part, but every once in a while when money is super tight i have to shop without a conscience in order to feed my family. My family always comes first and if it means the occassional purchase of cheaper eggs then that is the way it has to be.
Me too. Normally I buy from a small farm nearby, £3.50 for 12 hens and 6 duck eggs, unfortunately a fox has had all the ducks and the hens aren't laying. At the moment things are really tight so can't afford to have a conscience and buy them elsewhere because they're more expensive so I get a box of value from Tesco. When I can afford it and the hens start laying again I'll get them from the farm.

DH has just walked in & handed me a dozen free range eggs from Booths supermarket for £1.50. Our kids are keen for us to buy more hens & I suppose its only a matter of when.

  • Free range only....I would love to save some money on eggs but I can't bring myself to so I only have them as a treat.

Have only found them at the supermarket so far and they are really expensive :(

Are they the Clarence Court ones? I love the colour of those but my local branch no longer sells them. :(

I used to get those from Tesco, but they stopped doing them.

When I DO get hens (I told you I was determined!), I'd like to have one or two that lay pastel coloured eggs because they're so pretty!
