Free Range or Value eggs?

We have chickens and ducks, so haven't bought any eggs for over 2 years
However, if, for some reason, we did have to buy them; I'd be buying the ones at the farm gate down the road, rather than supermarket ones0 -
I buy the double yolkers from Tesco, £2.09 for 6 but worth it0

By doing this, you're not only helping your budget but helping the farmer to dispose of the non-standard size eggs. Good work!
We have our own chooks but ours are off-lay at the moment so I'm buying free range.0 -
Free range only for me, Aldi seem very reasonable but I haven't tried them yet.0

Free range for me too, I just can't bear the thought of the conditions that battery hens are kept in. Buying non-free range eggs only fuels the demand.0

Free range from the local egg farmer when I can, if not from the supermarket.0

Sadly I buy value eggs for baking, and my OH brings home (free!) farm eggs every now and again which we fry/boil etc, and Im waiting for my own chickens to start laying, then I wont have to buy value, or any other eggs.
I have looked around and the farm eggs generally cost £1 for 6, which is rather alot, and I cant quite manage it. I might look around more places for cheaper farm eggs.
I hate to buy battery chicken eggs, and they have very little flavour, but sometimes I just have to, got to consider petrol costs of driving around to find farm eggs aswell.''A moment's thinking is an hour in words.'' -Thomas Hood0 -
I will only buy free-range. Sometimes I get them from the farm shop, sometimes from the 'farm door' from someone on the way to my friend's house who has a small flock. OH won't let me get chickens (although that wouldn't save me money in any case). If I can't afford free range I go without.0

not proud of it but I buy asda smartprice eggs (the big box)
Though only like once a month as we dont tend to use too many eggs.0 -
Living out in the country, I can buy eggs from the local farms, however, I do need to drive to get there so tend to combine egg getting with a trip out. I get 12 eggs for £1.50, or £1.60, depending on where I go. There's certainly the feel good factor driving away from the farm, and now a certain guilt when I get them from the Co-op down the road!0
