I'm looking for a hotel in Tenerife
October
2 people B&B or SC
< £350 / week

Been looking at the Mar Ola Park Apartments in Playa de las Americas and they seem pretty good
but ....... it looks like it's a taxi ride into bar/restaurant areas and we'd rather be a bit closer - but not on top of it
My wife doesn't walk well these days so somewhere within a 5/10 minute walk of a good selection of places that isn't hilly would be ideal

BTW - I'm not looking for anywhere like Veronicas Strip for eating and drinking, I'm [sadly] too old for that sort of place now :)

any ideas would be much appreciated

California Apartments are good, but noisy in the summer/peak times, by October though, they will probably have calmed down. Only a short walk from everything in Playa Las Americas and I think we paid about £180 for a double room for a week. The apartments are super clean, as is the pool and there are always plenty of sunbeds.

Thanks so much to all who post :)

I have been looking at tenerife recently for myself husband and daughter and the place that was consistently recommended to me by others was parque Santiago 3, it's in between las americas and Los Christianos and is right beside the beach and the safari centre with nice bars and restaurants. Worth a look.

we've just come back from staying at the california apts over new year, and they are very nice, basic but nice and clean, and in a fab location (but i knew that before we went) a 5 min walk to the strip of bars underneath the parque de la paz, and nextdoor to the apts is the george pub, great english pub, over the road the cheiftan irish bar.

parque santiago 3 is again a lovely complex but for me it's to massive there are hundreds of sunbeds round the pool, and your cramed in a row like sardines in tin, not for me, plus it's a cut through for people to the shops underneath, so there is a constant file of people coming in from the beach road to cut through, very off putting and inpersonal.

do you have your flights and just need acommodation and what date in oct?

Newcastle would be ideal but Leeds-Bradford is OK too

If you're just looking for basic SC Parque Santiago II is great, stayed there a few times I think we paid £350 for a week for 2 bedrooms. Right next to the beach & McDonalds. In a great location, close to veronicas but far enough away so it's no noisy.

California apartments are good also, parents liked it there. My sister stayed at the Noelia sur for her honeymoon, they loved it but more expensive.

  • If you look around you could probably get a week half board for not much more than that at the Noelia Sur, food is really good there.
  • The Adeje and San Eugenio ends of Playa de las Americas are pretty hilly, the 'opposite' end nearer Los Cristianos is much flatter. I stayed at the Bitacora a few years ago, this was the flat end of the resort, which seems quite important to you.

My parents stayed at the Bitacora last time they went, they said it was ok...but food wise, they cater to Germans.

They said they even had Brussell sprouts for breakfast!
