in bit of a fix?

Hi all,
have recently been donated a 3 seater and armchair in fairly good condition I had it cleaned by one of these guys out of the local paper (heat extraction cleaning) and it looks very clean - but doesnt smell very pleasant. To be honest it did have abit of a stale/foodie oudour to it (even more reason to clean it!)

I have tried a fabric spray but didnt really help

has anyone got any suggestions?

  • Hi, Did you have it cleaned today?....its just we had our carpets cleaned recently and the place smelt rather fusty afterwards. After a couple of days it calmed down and was ok. I think it was just the carpet drying off completely.

Hope its just that you need to wait a couple of days.
  • Thanks Sallys Savings
The Guy came round on Monday and the heating has been on most of the time..... so this is why Im abit concerned

It's not the same, but I bought a digital (made of plastic) piano from a smoky house, and it smelled bad, but after two weeks the smell had gone. It might just need time.

Don't worry about it, it will fade in time.

We bought a couple of sofas from a house where there were heavy smokers and they stank to high heaven. We Febrezed them every day for about 2 weeks and thought it would never go, but it did in the end.

    So take heart!
Oh dear, here we go again.

You can't beat fresh air, but granted this is not really the time of year to have all your windows open.

How about burning scented candles in the room? Don't leave them unattended though, or you'll have more than a fusty smell to deal with!
    :D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D

  • you could try diluting lavander essential oil in water and spraying from a water battle.cheaper than fabric freshner and also has therapeutic qualities( relaxing for one)
