PPI Egg/Barclaycard

Hi, I am new to forums just looking for some guidance if you could help i'd be very greatful 
Firstly I have had my egg card for years and it was transferred to barclaycard a month or so ago, i got an email from barclaycard to tell me that i have the repayment protection and if i wish to cancel i have 30days to do it.
The other thing is i must have been paying for this protection for a couple of years now, i do remember being on the phone with an advisor (Egg) who said to me that i should have this protection as it will pay my credit card if i were to be paid off, my partner has been going mad at me for the past few months to check lenders for PPI as he says that i dont require it and the lenders are required to explain this to me.
So i am trying to get in contact with Egg but the website keeps giving me the number for barclaycard as the egg card is no longer there.
Now the point... sorry i rambled so long..
I need to know if i make the claim to barclaycard or egg and if it is egg how do i get the contact details? Also i have seen on this site to use templates etc to send to the lenders but i havnt found any links to templates.. Are there any templates that i should be using or should i go through one of the tv ppi guys?
