I bought a watch for my other half for christmas and he put it on on christmas day, it was not keeping good time. I returned it to goldsmiths on 4th january. they asked could they hang on to it and after a week said it was keeping good time. as soon as my other half put it ON HIS WRIST again it was going slow..........quite badly !!!
they have asked me to return it so they can send it back ????? I am not happy at this as I bought for christmas and hubby has been unable to use it !!!!!
my only problem is I paid some of the £200 using tesco clubcard vouchers
what are my options if any ????????

That's a thinker...!
There's probably others better qualified to !!! comment, but I would think any value that was refunded (assuming that's the line you wish to pursue) would be credited back to your Clubcard account. That's the gist of most site's I can find online. In a very exceptional circumstance you might get Goldsmiths vouchers.
As far as the watch itself goes, you don't say when you bought it. If you've had it more than 3 months then the onus is on you to prove the fault was present when it was bought. Less than that, it's on Goldsmiths to prove it wasn't there.
Assuming it was less than 3 months and you have proof of purchase (which I assume you have as they've had it back once) then you should be entitled to a refund - however if they want you to bring it back so they can send it back then that may well be what they intend to give you!0 -

Surely you mean six months?
In the first six months after purchase the product can be assumed to be inherently faulty and it is for the retailer to prove otherwise.
After six months, the onus is on the purchaser to prove it is inherenlty faulty.
I'm not sure that within that six months, or even within the first three months, the purchaser is entitled to a refund, unless they are looking to reject the goods.
They are of course entitled to a remedy if the thing is inherently faulty. That remedy could be a replacement, repair or refund.0 -
That, Wealdroam, is because my eyes are tired *sleep*
You are, of course, correct - six months is what I meantand I assume the OP is wanting to reject the goods by mentioning the amount that was paid and the method...

The watch was bought end of November 2011 and not oPened until Christmas day !!! It said on the receipt I was within my time to get a refund ( up til 6th January ) for Christmas gifts. They have not been helpful at all. The watch when it is worn looses time but just left sitting out, it sees fine ????weird !!?

...which watch is it and whats it powered by?
battery, solar, kinetic etc...0 -
I once had a battery watch that played up when I wore it but was fine when I didn't. I never worked out why but my suspicion was that maybe there was some electrical interference caused by the contact between my skin and the metal case.0
