Los Angeles - Cheap hotel booking required

Hi everyone, im a student, il be flying to Los Angeles 29 March staying for 4nights. I tried using moneysupermarket.com to search for hotel rates and the best i have found is the kawada hotel in the downtown area for £128 for the duration of the stay. Does anybody know any cheaper place to stay, and someone preferably in Santa Monica near the beach. I would like to tap into moneysavers expertise in finding a cheap hotel, recommendations on where to stay, places to visit, websites to search. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks. Kobz

You could try Seashore Motel in santa monica, small budget type family motel only 2 blocks back from the beach, also Bayside Motel, rooms are a bit more hit & miss but in fab position overlooking the beach.My mind tends to wander............If found please return;)
