Started online at 8.59 (thinking I'd be lucky and just sneak in!), finally worked at 8.32pm. Nearly 12 hours!!! Grateful I have got the card for £1, but the whole thing seemed a shambles from start to finish.
Thanks OP though for the recommendation!House Fund: £2,800/£20,000 - 14%

I saved my application after uploading the photo. I decided to try the email link they saved me for my online application. It went through first time for a quid THIS MORNING. Not at all impressed at the hassle but pleased I got the card for a quid. If it hadn't gone through first time this morning then I'd have given up.0

I just tried to put my sixth form in - came up no problem.The Fields are Green, The sky is blue, the River Nene goes winding through, The market square is Cobblestoned, It shakes the old dears to their bones, A finer town you'll never see, A finer town they'll never be, Big city lights don't bother me, Northampton Town I'm proud to be!0 -
After saving the application and then successfully completing it later my wife has had this email.. it seems a bit suspicious to me.
Anyone else had this?
Blue Monday update
Dear student,
Thank you for taking part in the Blue Monday NUS extra sale. As you might be aware, we encountered some difficulties on the day due to unwelcome attention to our website by a hacker. We would like to reassure you that your payment details remain secure as these are handled by the payment merchant Worldpay, whose website was not affected by the hacker's actions.
This has resulted in your online order not being completed and we would like to make sure that you can receive your card for £1 (plus £1.99 for the ISIC upgrade if applicable), as promised. Please can you send us the following information as soon as possible so that we can process your order and produce your card which we will send to the address you provide us with:
* First name
* Surname
* Date of Birth
* E-mail Address
* Gender
* Delivery address
* Your photo, in .jpeg format as an attachment
Please reply to this email with all the information above and we will deal with your online order promptly. If you have any questions, please contact us on 01625 413277 between 08:00 and 18:00 Monday - Friday.
We are very sorry for the delay in processing your card order but would like to assure you that we have now fixed the issue and are strenuously reviewing our security procedures to prevent this happening in the future. Thank you for your continuing patience and we look forward to sending your card out to you on receipt of the above details.
Regards
NUS extra team
UPDATE: I phoned the NUS who told me it was genuine. It seems that a script kiddie was hitting thier website with 3000 hits at a time.. hence the issues with the application.0 -
Thanks for this tip off!
Had been meaning to get a student discount card since September last year but due to a number of factors, I never really got around to it. So glad that I left it until now!
Like a number of other people, I was on the website early at 9am and thought I was doing alright until it started causing a lot of hassle.Eventually I just left it, tried a few hours later and slowly managed to make my way through the process. Phew! Pleased to say that I have been tracking my card's progress on the website and I'm now the proud owner of a £1 student discount card, as is another of my friends.
Seeing as the card is normally £11, it will be interesting to find out whether or not it really is worthwhile for me to buy it at that price in the future...0 -
