Ford Puma alarm

My Y reg Puma alarm keeps going off randomly.

What would cause this?

Anybody know how to lock the car with out setting the alarm? (the manual does not offer a solution)

Can I remove something to disable it?

I am not worried about insurance, as I would not be claiming if it was nicked. (£550 excess on a Y reg car with 160k miles on the clock).

How's the battery? sometimes a dodgy battery can set it off.

How do you lock it at the moment? With the key or fob? does the key set the alarm?

Beyond that, there might be a box under the bonnet which you can turn the alarm off with. Key usually looks like something for a bike lock or something. Round barrel thing.

What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?

Battery seems fine only about 18months old I think. It has a hard life, lots of short trips, but is starting on the button.

I have a remote on the key, locking with the key still sets alarm. No other key, it ford factory fit.

Bonnet switches are common on most fords, They corrode and fail to register the bonnet is closed.
