Had PPI more than 10 years ago

Hia. A friend of mine had PPI on her mortgage for a number of years. she's since changed mortgage providers and hasnt been paying it for more than 10 years now. she feels that she was missold it. so my question is, making a claim doesnt depend on how long ago that she had PPI does it and that she would still be able to submit a claim now?

the only other issue she's got is that she no longer has details of the mortgage that she had. would her old provider should be able to provide these if she wrote or phoned them for them?

The further back you go, the less likely the seller will hold documentation. Especially on plans/products that have long since ended.

If your friend bought via a broker, then it may be pre-regulation and they dont have to consider the complaint. It may also get timebarred under the 3 year/6 year rule.

You indicate she has no documentation so evidencing her allegations are going to be hard to do as well. So, in this case, it would require a technical failing to have taken place for it to be a provable mis-sale. i.e. a verbal allegation will be easily rejected.
the only other issue she's got is that she no longer has details of the mortgage that she had. would her old provider should be able to provide these if she wrote or phoned them for them?
If she bought the mortgage via a lender and not a broker then the lender is whom she asks. If she bought via a broker/adviser/estate agent then she asks them.

What is her complaint on MPPI? MPPI has far fewer complaints about it and is generally considered to be the only PPI worth having. Even the DWP set benefits on the assumption that MPPI is held. Just having the insurance is not grounds for complaint. It is considered bad advice NOT to recommend it when it is needed. It is also the only PPI that can still be sold at the same time as the debt. So, many of the complaint reasons used for loan and credit card will not apply to MPPI.

What are her reasons for complaint?
