Scottish Power - have I made a HUGE mistake?

I have just switched to SP and starts today. However have now done another switch comparison and BG can save me £223.00. I am going to wait until I know what SP will reduce their tariffs to. Also I have spoken to CS and everyone very, very helpful and very professional. My last supplier was N Power and hated if I had to ring their customer service.0

What is CS, please, Mable?0 -
Matahari
CS usually stands for Customer Services on here.
As for changing your energy supplier - I've been with Scottish Power for a while (did the uswitch thing at the time I switched) and they've been OK. They have just put my direct debit up by a whopping amount, but because I can take regular readings and input them on Scottish Power's online facility, I have been able to demonstrate to them that the increase is too much and they have agreed to reduce it if this is the case in another month - so good for them.
If you get Martin's weekly e-mail you will see that today he advises NOT to switch just now. He thinks other companies will follow British Gas and that it is best to sit tight for now until that happens - he says he will advise when switching is a good idea again. Not that you have to do what he says of course, but I'm not switching again just yet.
Somewhere on the Money Saving Old Style forum is a fairly recent post on using less gas and electricity which might help you cut consumption.
And good for you for having a go at some of this money saving stuff - but watch out, it can get addictive :rotfl:

Hey Broxis,
You can't possibly know this information. If you are employed by them you would not know a week before the expected disclosure, unless you are senior management.....Naughty, naughty if you are!!
Please clarify the validity of your information, don't be shy.
If Scottish Power are going down then I will switch to them.
There is good and bad in all companies, we just dont want the bad!!!!
Taff;)Need is something you have to have
Want is something you would like to have0 -

I loved the ideal of doing everything online and as you say generating your own bill.0 -
I am just in the process of switching to Scottish Power from PowerGen. I had started this process through uSwitch a few weeks back (it takes a bit of time, doesn't it?) and the switch is nearly through. Then, of course, British Gas announce major price cuts... :-( I know Martin's advice is not to switch but mine is nearly done now so I think there's not a lot I can do, except sit tight and hope that Scottish Power follow suit and try to remain competitive. I guess if they don't, then I'll just have to switch again...The world is full of crashing bores...0

Me too! I was at the end of my tether with BG and so I started a switch which is about to happen any day. BG rang me about it and were incredibly patronising ('do you know how these comparison sites work? Are you sure you want to move? Do you know what you're doing?' etc, etc) and it made me more determined to shift, as they've been APPALLING CS wise. Constantly. Doesn't stop me from being slightly sickened when they announced price drop, esp as we're skint but have to have house warm as we have a new baby.
But then part of me thinks stuff them anyway, lol! They certainly don't deserve to get long suffering customers back. Like BT, they're both horrible.
I'm off, does my blood pressure no good all this bitterness....
btw Scot Power sounded lovely on the phone so far. No complaints from me!0 -
I had some problems with SP billing me for the wrong meter and ignoring my requests for the account to be put on hold while it was in dispute. Eventually I got Energywatch involved and they sorted it out, although SP did give me a cheque for £10 for my hassle.
HydroElectric seem to be just as incompetent. My impression of energy and telcoms companies is much the same as banks - they're all as bad as each other, you just have to find one that will rip you off slightly less than the others in a slightly friendlier way.0 -
I was with Scottish Power for 3 years on a fixed price deal. They were excellent. No complaints except, they wouldn't let me go on to their cheapest tariff, saying it was reserved for new customers only.
So now I've changed to Npower.0
