Things which are irritating me today; ABAi reports which ask for something that wasn't mentioned in the brief, and since you can't see the questionnaire beforehand you've got no way of knowing you were supposed to take a note of something.

    Bah.

Hi, don't worry too much about the points. They don't lead to anything. Just do your best.

I'm sure there are plenty of jobs in that area, it's quite a populated region. There is room for everyone. There is usually a turnover in shoppers with only a smallish number doing it long term or full time.

Funnily enough I am treading on your patch tomorrow. I'm travelling up north and doing a burger place near Doncaster en route. :D
I'm just worried that my report won't be good enough but my first three have been fine :) So not as nervous now.
Hope the burger job went well.

While I am on here I do have a question for you all as hopefully someone can help.
I have not registered as self employed yet though it is on my to do list. But I have a few issues. I currently get carers allowance (this won't affect the time I spend caring) I have a £100 p/w earnings limit which again shouldn't be a problem I think. We do get WTC as my partner works. Any idea's how this will affect it as obviously I have no idea how long I will spend doing this or how much I will earn (not even 100% sure how to work that out yet). Sorry for being a bit useless.

Also I hope I don't get into trouble for saying this but my second report was for a pizza chain, however while the service wasn't totally terrible it wasn't perfect, I was fair in what I said on the report but I have found out that the guy has been sacked and I feel awful as I feel it was my fault :(

Everything will be ok in the end, and if it isn't ok then it isn't the end :)

If you don't mind me asking, how did you find out? I've never been told of any consequences of the reports I've submitted (which is a shame, there are some I'd LOVE to find out what happened!) In any case, I wouldn't beat myself up about it if I were you - legally, he has to be given a number of verbal and written warnings before being sacked, so chances are, whatever he did wrong during your visit, it was simply the straw that broke the camel's back, and that's if your report was even a contributing factor.

My brother in law was in the car with me and recognised one of the guys working there but not the one that served me, he then heard through the grape vine that the one that did serve me was sacked, if that made sense.

I don't think that one bad mystery shop can get a person sacked. Most places need to follow a very formal procedure to sack someone. Your report may be used as further evidence but if it was not gross misconduct then usually you have to give an employe time/training/guidance on how to improve.

Just a heads up, should the milage rate in the first post be 45p /mile? http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/rates/travel.htm

Also, what sort of profit margin do others have in general? Mine is about 35%, does this sound about right?

(Can you tell I've been looking at my 11/12 books?)

Yup, the first post is pretty much a copy and paste from the previous thread, a few bits need updating.

I'm sitting at 36.2% profit before tax for 11/12 this is dependant on everything being repaid and no payments going astray.

Not too bad when I've bought a few bits like a new scanner and camera on this years expenses.

Beware because this client are very strict that you must conduct the visits alone, if they get wind of the fact that someone was in the car with you, you could at best not be paid, at worst sacked from the burger jobs.
