I did it last summer. Whether you feel it's worth studying for depends how interested you are in getting the qualification! The test is mostly common sense to be honest, if you're keen to pass, you might have to learn certain stuff such as what each colour fire extinguisher is good/not good for, and what colour wires serve what purpose in a plug.

I passed the test with no problem, but I'm pretty sure I stood out like a sore thumb, being a nicely-dressed girl in a room with burly blokes in it! :D

So fairly basic then? If know the basic electrical stuff I should be alright?

GR are ok with that happening as long as you report it as the MOS putting it through for you at the self service.

Thing is, he didn't. He said he'd put it through for me, then left me to it.
  • H&S? Could someone give me a clue please?

Not much you could have done GR are good this way, you should be fine, just make sure you are clear with them on what happened.

I would say so, a lot of it really is just common sense. For example, anything along the lines of "An unexpected thing/potential danger has appeared!" the answer is ALWAYS "inform your supervisor", or the closest answer thereto. This will form a fare proportion of the questions :D

I got a naughty download of the official study disk which has all the test questions on it. I only failed the first mock test I did and was getting mostly 35/35 or 34/35 with very little study. The only thing I had to properly learn (as I was keen to pass at the time, though I never did end up sending off for my trade card!) was the bit about fire extinguishers, which is probably a good thing to know anyway, regardless of the test.

Had a visit report sent back to me today due to a minor infringement of the brief (certainly nothing substantive that would make a difference in assessing any aspects of customer service). I'm not going to say which MS company sent my report back BUT I am interested to hear from you lovely people whether you think there are any companies that you think are particularly bad for rejecting reports on spurious grounds?

Amber Arch are the only ones to have done it to me. Never worked for them again.
