Opened a new ebay account - which has been suspended but don't know why

Hi all
Last weekend I opened a new ebay account and listed seven low cost items (records and DVDs). The listing went fine, until the next day when I was emailed to say the account had been suspended.
I was asked to send in proof of identity (passport / driving license etc), proof of address, and a photo of me with each of the items! I've done this now, but along the way I have a Live Chat with ebay for further info. During these chats I asked why the account had been suspended, and both times I was told that it was due to "discrepancies". When i then asked what the discrepancies were I was met with silence. During the second chat, when I pressed a little harder, the guy said something along the lines of: "I have given you all the help you need cannot assist you further in this chat". He then "hung up" on me....
I just wondered if anyone has ever been in a similar position and if so what is it all about!!! It all seems so odd, especially for just 7 low cost items!
Cheers

Have you had an account before that's been suspended? Or are you associated with someone who does, share internet with someone, or moved recently?0

NoOr are you associated with someone who does,
Noshare internet with someone,
Yes - my partner uses the internet in the house too. Not sure if that is what you meant? I don't think she even has an ebay account....or moved recently?
Almost two years ago now......

I do already have an ebay account, so this will be my second. I predominantly wanted two accounts so that I can have more than 100 "Saved Searches", which is the limit per account. However, I was also going to list a few things on the second account.... Don't know if this is what their problem is? But if it is, I cannot see why they are asking for proof of identity and ownership....? Surely they would just ask me if I have a second account?
Thanks for the reply

Having two accounts is not a problem unless you use one while the other has any restrictions on it. I think that restrictions also applies to the 100 free 99p listings a month as well- but I am aware that many people do run two seperate private accounts to get round these limits.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. The OP said he doesnt think his partner has an eBay account though.
The same thing was an ongoing problem for me with Amazon. There are various ways around it but many times I have had accounts closed for literally no apparent reason. It doesn't sound like it is relevant to you as you haven't had a previous account but there are numerous identifiers that relate you to a 'previous account' like IP address, email address, credit card details, name, MAC address, cookies, flash cookies, temp internet files... the list goes on. Even using a brand new account from a different location (in another country one time!) with completely brand new details of every kind, new pc everything different it was still 'related to another account'.
I dont know if eBay is as harsh as Amazon but if so, good luck getting it re-opened! (sorry to not be positive)
