Hi
Check this out:
http://www.ebuyer.com/318414-asus-k53e-laptop-k53e-sx832v
This is available Online & delivered free. Whilst on the Site, take a look: I have dealt with E Buyer a lot (I build systems) and I have always found them fair. Had to make 2 returns over the years, no problem. I recommend ASUS or HP, but it is personal choice. I have found those to be the most reliable makes.
Try the Trial Ms Office, but I use Open Office. It is a free download, it reads and writes Ms Office documents and it has Translation packages which you can install at first installation. I had Office Professional for years, but it became so bloated and so expensive.
EDIT:
Currys, in common with most stores, are not at all competitive. I buy all PC stuff online now.I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.

This is interesting, Robisere - ebuyer sell the same Toshiba Satellite I saw this afternoon for £319 instead of £379 - maybe the High Street is really out.
I asked a computer savy friend this afternoon and he said HP is no good at all - but then, each brand has its supporters and opponents. If you are generally pro HP, what do you think about Compaq? This one for instance: http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/compaq-presario-cq57-364sa-15-6-laptop-11439859-pdt.html?srcid=867&cmpid=comp~Google~Computing~11439859&istCompanyId=bec25c7e-cbcd-460d-81d5-a25372d2e3d7&istItemId=ptmpqarw&istBid=t&gclid=CNuKz53oza0CFYuIfAodu20Big
It seems to have everything I need; I like it's dull plasticky (yes!) greyish-black case much better than the cold metallic look of Asus or the latest Samsungs, and the missing number block on the keyboard is also a plus - I hardly ever need numbers, no need to waste space on them.0
