Considering a Claim....bit of advice please

Hi All,

I need your expert advice please :p

I keep on hearing amazing stories about large amounts of cash being paid out for mis sold PPI. Thing is, I'm a pretty switched on person when it comes to handling my finances and I don't think I've ever taken out any kind of PPI on any previous loans. The more and more I hear about it, the more I think it's worth looking into.

I have had 3 previous loans from approx 5 years ago with the following:

1. Northern Rock
2. Co-Op Bank
3. ? Can't remember, but in the process of finding out through old statements.

I took out a together mortgage with Northern Rock in June 2007. mortgage amount was £167,000 plus unsecured loan of £14,000, total of £181,000. I paid off the 3 loans and used the rest for a deposit and legal fees. I am now left with the mortgage and unsecured loan which is managed by NRAM.

From the info above, do you think it would be worth enquiring about mis sold PPI or mis sold mortgage?

Apologies if the question is vague, I just don't really know a lot about this kind of stuff and don't know whether I should ring a company like Gladstone Brookes, give them the above info and ask them to find out for me.

Any advice is most welcome.

You could always ask those creditors yourself if you had PPI!!!

Dont go to a claims company

Its really easy to do yourself

Agree with Swerve, you can find this out for yourself, ring creditors and ask.
If you have ppi ,look here for reasons for mis sell.

    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance#step2

If any/all apply to you, then put a complaint into the bank...it is as easy as that and no % to a claims co that will get you to do all of the above and sit back and take a hefty wack.

Did you buy the mortgage direct with NR or did you by via a broker?

What makes you think the mortgage was mis-sold? (nothing on your post indicates anything)

I bought it through a broker and we paid all the loans off after that, including the NR loan. I don't think any of them were mis sold, but all you hear on the adverts these days is ..."thousands of people were mis sold loans, mortgages etc... made to pay PPI etc.. even when they didn't ask or even need it".... That's the whole point of this thread....I want to see whether people think it would be worth checking up on my old loans and asking whether I might have something to claim for.

I've never done anything like this before, hence the reason for asking.
