Which is cheaper?
Recently a BG engineer came to service the boiler. I told him I use an oil filled 3kw radiator during the day to heat the room I work in rather than having the gas central heating on all day to heat the whole house. (CH comes on at 6.30pm). He said NO it was more cost effective to have the heating on all day than to heat one room electrically. I'm no expert but it didn't make sense to me. Can anyone say for sure which is the cheaper option? Thanks.

It is cheaper to use gas but you must close off all the other radiators so the only one heating is the one in your room.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

Variations of this question have been asked many times on MSE.
To produce the same amount of heat an electrical heater costs between two and three times as much as gas central heating(depends on boiler efficiency and tariff prices)
However as said above, if you are in one room you must shut off all other radiators.0
