If you are thinking of using the Nectar site to buy large items from Comet don't expect them to be honoured.Use other methods of obtaining discount.
Purchased 2 iPads using the Nectar site from Comet because they were giving bonus points which amounted to nearly 6000 Nectar points.Throughly researched other stores.Paid online through Nectar site because of the large purchase Comet sent an email asking me to confirm the order was mine. After 30 days no sign of points awarded contacted Nectar reassured they had my transaction and Comet awarded at 60 days after purchase.60 days past, then told it was 60 days after delivery. That past then informed by email We’ve investigated your claim with the intermediary, who act on behalf of Comet and I’m sorry but on this occasion we’re unable to add Nectar points to your account. This is because the intermediary was unable to trace your sale. This may be due to one of the following:
• Another discount or promotional offer code was entered during the checkout process.
No discount was used as they could tell from the payment made. When I telephoned Nectar they were very dismissive and after trying various dodges targeted the fact I had contacted Comet when they sent me an email asking me to verify my purchases by telephone.Had I not contacted them I wouldn't have received the iPads.
How can a company get away with luring you to a particular retailer then not give the rewards promised.I fulfilled my part of the contract by using the website and paying for the goods their attitude is go away we're not fulfilling ours.
After speaking to friends this apparently happens a lot it is just because it is usually small amounts you don't notice on your statement. To be fair though Amazon always credit nectar points probably because theirs are direct and no intermediaries(Nectar) are involved.

Theoretically, Nectar points is a cash back scheme, albeit it in points and not cold hard cash.
With any cash back scheme like this, you have to be aware that the cash is NOT guaranteed, and can get refused by the retailer for any number of reasons.
I think the number one rule (and I believe it is mentioned by Martin throughout the site) is that you should only go ahead with these deals if you can “go without” the cash back, and therefore treat the cash back as a bonus.
That said – keep on at Nectar. We have a cash back scheme through work, and I recently bought something through Dixons, and didn’t get the money credited. I complained, got told no, complained again, still got told “no” (reason given was that my purchase had not been conducted entirely online which was one of the terms and conditions). Complained a third time, and eventually got credited.
Good luck with this – I hope you manage to get your Nectar points.0 -
Just tracking on the otherside of the above problem.
Ive been saving up alot of nectar points recently, only problem iv had with collecting is with ebay purchases.
So far, i have almost £700 worth. My aim is to take my wife and kids to a disney land holiday a few years down the line, hoping to have saved up a couple of thousand pounds worth.
Has anyone had a problem is spending nectar points on large items such as holidays in the region of say maybe £2-3ks worth?0
