Mould on lunch box

My son has a lunch box which he loves. It is made from soft plastic. When it was a bit damp he put it in a cupboard. It now has a bit of mould on the outside. I wanted to throw it away but he is keen on it and i can't find a new one.

Would spraying a mould killer be sufficent? Shall i put it in the washing machine hoping it will kill all the mould?

Any advice? The inside is free of mould.
Problem with having access to internet is that i get asked by many to solve their problems :( Well at least i learn something on the way :D

Steep it in bleach then Give it a good wash then rinse it in boiling water should make it very germ free

Have you tried removing the mould using soap and water?. I would not use mould killer on a childs lunchbox.

Bleach does not kill mould. Mould is a fungus, not a germ.

Put in it the sink and pour a kettle of boiling water over it.

  • soap and water would be my starting point... if that removes it, do it a couple of times and then pour boiling water over it to make certain it's ok. Dry thorougly and it should be fine :)

Your son has a mouldy lunchbox?
Treat it the same as athlete's foot....and do it soon or he'll never get a gf.
  • I cleaned my sons mouldy lunchbox (well more of a bag I suppose, soft plastic front and material back) by wipng it with a pad with a bit of washing up liquid on it, cleaned that off with a few baby wipes , rubbed it with half a lemon, then left it for a few hours, wiped again with a baby wipe and all the stains came out and it smelt lovely!! I know some off these lunchboxes can't really be immersed in hot water they just get ruined.
