It costs £30 to register a deposit with mydeposits.
Is this following on from a specific query within the thread?

This is a charge *levied on the LL* by the deposit scheme. Note that LAs/LLs with a large number of properties on which deposits are taken will qualify for discounts.

Both TDS and mydeposits charge a fee because their scheme is insurance backed and the LL/LA gets to hold onto the actual deposit monies for the duration of the tenancy. DPS insists that the deposit is paid across to them and their scheme is free to use.

Not all LLs charge a fee to the T in turn ( although it will be an expenditure parcelled up in outgoings which the LL needs to get covered by rental income)

Its one of those anomalies that should have been addressed within the legislation but was not. T does not have any choice in which scheme is used for the LL to be able to comply with his legal obligations.

Perhaps the answer would have been for it to be down to all Ts to get their deposit scheme-registered - odds on that all would opt for the free to use DPS
