The forum keeps getting spammed by obviously the same person doing the same thing.
Why not put a limit of 2 new threads per 24 hours until the user has 100 posts.
Or. Why not as well as a spam button for posts, add a spam button for the user. That way, if enough people hit the button to say a particular user is spamming, they just get removed along with all their posts and threads?
But if not the above, please do something.

Yes, the spam button for a user would be good.0

If they can only do two threads in 24 hours they'll just keep signing up again or spam loads of threads to get 100 posts.
you can hit the report button to report a user, so pretty much a user spam.0 -
There was a spambot working on one of the boards early on Thursday morning posting the same kind of rubbish as the one in the afternoon (cant remember which board) but it was PPR'd and all posts removed by the time it hit about 20 posts.
I dont think it is the lack of reporting that is the trouble, I think it is the lack of action at the other end. If the spammer picks a board with an online and attentive BG then action tends to be quite swift otherwise the spambot just continues until someone at MSE towers wakes up.
I suppose the ultimate dterrent might be a 'Capcha' code for newbie's where they need to type in the code for each post for the first however many times. It would go a long way to stop the bots.0 -
May be it is better to filter the commonly spammed websites instead of restrictions having on number of posts and threads?0

So make that part automatic, if say 10 people report a user with sub 100 posts, it is automatically removed until it is checked.
Also, yes they could sign up again, but would need a new email for that.
Or happy to hear any better suggestions....0 -

.
but don't forget, you can only work within the limitations of the software; so it might not be possible.0
