28 hour power cut
Hello,
Just after some advice really...
Our power went off at home yesterday at 13.20 and has only just been restored at 17.30, thats 28hrs with out power and more importantly heating... it's blinking freezing:eek:
I understand that these things happen, but as far as i can tell the local supplier (EDF) did nothing about it all yesterday afternoon. A bloke came and look at the substation in the road at 22.00 yesterday night and they came and dug the road up this morning. I recon that if that if they had starting work on it yesterday they could have had it back on yesterday night.
Anyone had any luck getting some sort of compensation from electric companies for this sort of thing? My wife is 8 months pregnant and was none too happy in our freezing house!

We had one on New Year's eve/day for the same amount of time. It was very depressing, it must have been awful for you both.
We looked into it and you have to be out for 48 hours before you get compo but do check. An average day in my life:hello: :mad: :coffee::coffee::coffee::T :rotfl: :rotfl: :mad:
I am no expert in property but have lived in many types of homes, in many locations and can only talk from experience.0 -
We had no power for about 35 hours in January, E.on said we weren't entitled to anything unless we had no power for 48 continuous hours. As they managed to restore the power for an hour in the middle of it all, albeit so reduced that we had only very dim lights and no appliances would work, we were nowhere near 48 hours. Link
If we had been cut off for 48 hours, they'd have given us £25.0
