Hi,
Im 90% sure that two years ago i read about a charity for architects who are either unemployed or unwell. I know this is a bit vague but i have a very very good friend who is an architect who is currently very unwell indeed (worryingly) and i thought id try to find out if it still exists, or even if i was imagining it (which i do doubt)?
Please can anyone tell me if they have heard of this?
Thank you- Bob

From a quick google there seems to be one called the Architects Benevolent Society. They claim to be the only charity in the UK for architects so I assume this is the one you were thinking of.

Hi,
No, just an architect.0 -
Sue, these are official contact details from the Charity Commission Register. Smaller registered charities often have residential details: it is similar to the details for small limited companies. Anyone can find these numbers for themselves, but if you not happy then do remove them: they are only useful to the OP who will have taken the details by now,
PS I have removed the phone numbers. Bob Bob, I can show you where to go if you didn't take them down.Who having known the diamond will concern himself with glass?

Can you find an old drawing or letter addressed to him and see waht letters he has after his name.
If he has RIBA after his name he will be a fully qualified architect and a member of the Royal Institute of Bristish Architects and they should have a benevolant fund connected to them. Most professional bodies do.
There are a number of professional bodies for people involed in architectural who have not taken qualifications which award them the title "architect". The most common such professional body is the CIAT (Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists) and they might have a benevolent fund.0 -
