Claiming PPI from HSBC

Does anyone know how long it takes HSBC to process complaints regarding PPI?

My OH sent off a letter SO long ago now - more than 16 weeks ago. (His brother sent a letter off a couple of weeks after my OH and has already received his refund from HSBC).

We called them up the other day, and they said that they will 'get someone to look in to it and will send us a letter.'

We will wait until mid next week to receive a letter, to give them some time, but if we don't hear from HSBC what can we do about it?

We're kind of relying upon that money a little to pay off some of his CC debt. (Some of the PPI is from the CC so will probably go straight back on to the card, but the rest is from a loan).

Any advice is greatly appreciated, thanks.

They have 12 weeks to give a resolution on claims from 1st sept 2011.
Give FOS a ring and let them know what they are doing.has he had any communication at all?.

Explain your case, and hopefully they will deal with it.
  • No we've heard absolutely nothing. We filed the complaint around August 2011 time. We called them 2 days ago to ask what is going on, they just said that they would pass the message on that we had rung, and we should hear from them soon..
