Finding the Freeholder

Hello all, I have a little question that no one as of yet has been able to help me with.
I am looking to buy a derelict property in my area, it was abandoned in 1999, since then no one has the details or forwarding address of the owners and the land registry search just gives me two names and a mortgage company who gave a mortgage for the company in 1969.
So does anyone have any advice as to how I can find the owners of the freehold?
I have tried neighbours and no one has any information, and I am drawing a blank in my own searches so any advice would be greatly recieved
Thanks
James

Thanks for this but everytime I search it takes me straight to a screen saying to see the results I need to buy credits,
is this correct?0 -
If the mortgage company is a bank you could try sending a letter to the owners c/o the bank in the hope that they have some kind of active account at the bank & that the letter would be forwarded on to them.
If it's a company that bought the property rather than individuals, is is possible to do a seach via Companies House perhaps? The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
Hello there and thanks again for your help, the mortgage was from a bank in 1969, so the standard mortgage would have ended in 1994, however the bank is still in business so there is an avenue there I guess.
Are there any suggestions of how to go about this?0
