Tesco value peanut butter

Did my shopping today and went to get some more value peanut butter and found it had gone up to 92p! Last week it was only 52p!! How can they justify such an increase in price???
If I'm going to pay more money for it then I'll go for better quality elsewhere.

Try Lidl or Aldi, they sell large jars for £1, or was the last time I bought some. Their peanut butter is fairly good as well. I'm not a huge fan of the stuff myself, I buy it for making curry.
Or try seaching mySupermarket. Click on any image to compare.0 -
The Tesco Value stuff doesn't taste as nice as it used to either. More fat less nuts methinks.0

We noticed that yesterday as well! And their dry cider has increased by over 50p in 2 days!!!0

make your own, peants are cheap!!! also less sugar
whizz nuts in blender, add a little oil

Don't use olive oil though as it'll adversely affect the taste. Though peanut oil, corn oil, sunflower oil or safflower oil should do OK.0

That's a disgusting price hike - mind you, everything seems to be going up and up at the moment no matter where you buy it. It's getting much tougher to shop on a budget now I find.0

Try having a look in M&S, their reductions are good value as well.If you have to pay more then get better quality if possible0

Typical Tesco, this is one of the reasons we have stopped going there for our big shop. I noticed the other day when I called in midweek for chocolate spread that they charge 30p more a jar for the plain value stuff than the hazelnut stuff. Same size jar and everything. Makes no difference to me which one we get so I bought the cheaper one. Stupid. Just another reason why I hate Tesco, the main one being that I'm sick of picking stuff up in there just to discover it's out of date either that day or the following one (yes I know I should check before I buy). Like milk I bought the Thursday before new year was ood on nye, 2 days later. Ridiculous.0

Tesco are probably hiking the prices of their value stuff as more people are buying it so they aren't being cross subsidized by the normal and finest lines.0
